What to expect before, during, and after
Most of our workshops are beginner-friendly and require no prior clay experience. Any workshops that do require experience will be clearly noted in the event description.
Wear something you don't mind getting dirty. Clay has a way of finding its way onto everything, and some of the clay we'll work with can stain.
That depends on the venue! Each workshop location has its own policy. Check the event description for details, or reach out to the venue directly. If the workshop is hosted at my backyard studio, you're welcome to bring food and drinks.
For most workshops, yes. You'll get an email with all the details and a short waiver to fill out before the day. It covers what to expect in the studio and a few housekeeping items.
Each session usually runs approximately 2.5 hours (unless otherwise stated). We'll start with a brief introduction to materials and techniques, move into hands-on making time, and wrap up with cleanup. You'll leave your finished greenware piece with me to be fired after the workshop.
Please arrive on time or a few minutes early, we dive in quickly! Students arriving more than 15 minutes after the start time may not be able to join, as it can disrupt the flow for everyone. No refunds will be issued for late arrivals.
That depends on the workshop. Some pieces come back glazed, and you'll choose your colors from my studio glazes during the workshop. Others are fired unglazed so the clay keeps its own color and texture. Each event page tells you which.
Pieces are typically ready for pickup 5-6 weeks after the workshop, depending on firing schedules. You'll receive an email when your work is ready. If you'd rather have your piece shipped, email hello@katieannclay.com to arrange it. Shipping is $25 per piece.
Pricing reflects the materials used, venue costs, workshop length, and the complexity of the project. All pricing is listed clearly on each event page.
Yes. A limited number of community supported spots are available at a reduced rate for anyone for whom cost is a barrier. Email hello@katieannclay.com to ask about availability. No explanation needed.
Yes! Email hello@katieannclay.com to be added to the waitlist for a sold-out workshop. We'll reach out if a spot opens up.
All sales are final. No refunds or credits will be issued for missed workshops or cancellations made after registration. If you can't make it, you're welcome to send someone in your place, just let us know ahead of time.
Life happens. You're welcome to transfer your spot to someone else at no charge. Please email us as soon as possible so we can update our records. We are not able to offer refunds or credits for same-day emergencies.
In the rare event that a workshop is cancelled, all registered participants will have the option of a workshop credit or full refund and will be notified of any rescheduled dates with priority access to re-register.
