September 19th, 2026 | 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM | New Mexico Clay - 3300 Girard Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM

In this 4-hour intermediate workshop, you'll build an original wall altar from rich red micaceous clay while exploring the full arc of Katie's design process, from concept and template development to finished surface decoration.

Unlike a drop-in beginner session, this workshop is designed to give you time to slow down, make intentional decisions, and develop a piece with real depth and detail.

We'll cover:

  • Slab building fundamentals including structure, attachment, and adding dimensional shelves.
  • Template design and how Katie develops her forms.
  • Strategies for producing clean lines and refined forms.
  • Surface decoration using handmade clay stamps, pattern-making, and composition.

You'll create a greenware piece ready for firing, gain a deeper understanding of Katie's design process, and learn a set of techniques you can apply in your own practice.

All tools provided. Clay and firing covered by New Mexico Clay. No need to bring anything but your curiosity and your hands.

**Important Note: This workshop is booked through New Mexico Clay. Just click the “Buy Now” button on the main workshop page and you’ll be taken to their website to complete your registration. Thank you!
